What the Nutritionist says
The best antioxidant out there. Your body cannot make it alone, so must be supplemented. A vitamin c supplement a day will keep the doctor away.
How It Helps
We know that inflammation is at the root cause of many modern disease conditions. Vitamin C is involved in the 'mopping up' of free radicals in the body and sufficient levels are needed to ensure these reactions occur efficiently.

We now know that vitamin C might not prevent you catching colds and flus, however a high dose of vitamin C has been shown to help prevent the severity and duration of your cold. In one study, 168 volunteers were randomised to receive a placebo or a vitamin C supplement, two tablets daily, over a 60-day period between November and February. Compared with the placebo group, the active-treatment group had significantly fewer colds, fewer days challenged virally, and a significantly shorter duration of severe symptoms.

A study investigated if vitamin C supplementation before and after eccentric exercise could reduce muscle soreness, oxidative stress, and muscle function. Results showed vitamin C pretreatment can reduce soreness in the muscle post exercise, reduce overall oxidative stress within the muscle with little influence on muscle function loss.
